Welcome to Unity Great Danes
We are Callie & Cecil Caffey, an Ohio based Christian family, living with our "fur kids"; CH. Charma's Leap of Faith 'N C & C CGC, Unity's Pieces of A Dream, and CH. Unity's Kittyhawk v Sharcon. We have raised 8 children and now have 16 grandkids call us Nana & Poppy!
Currrently we breed and train black danes for show, performance, and family companionship. I became enamored with the breed in the 1970's during my first dog show and getting to see the famous brindle CH. Mountdania's Ashley. I started with fawn & brindle but did not have the quality or ring experience to get very far. We had some success in the 1980's with the American Staffordshire Terriers from TARA Kennels bred by Lucy & Leroy Walters. I showed fawn litter-mates to their championships, and showed another fawn; CH Bullbeiser's Baby to her championship as well. Decades later, while facing an empty nest we started researching and going to dog shows again, but it would be 2 years before we brought home a black girl from Charma Kennels in GA. from Col. Chuck & Willie Crawford. We are deeply indebted to the Crawfords for trusting us with Faith, the foundation of UNITY Danes.
Our goals are simple, to breed toward the Great Dane standard which in turn will also show working ability. As a member of the GDCA and the GDC of Cleveland we follow parent club practices for breeders. We are also members of the Cleveland All Breed Training Club. Since we breed for the show ring; pick puppy is usually kept and shown by us. We do look for EXPERIENCED show homes for eligible pups OR Co-ownership options for people that are new to showing / or breeding. All other owners agree to a spay / neuter contract and your puppy will be given a LIMITED AKC registration. To that end we strive to do as much as humanly possible to breed toward longevity, and loving temperaments. We also use the "Super Puppy Method" of early neurological stimulation with each litter. We only want our puppies to go to loving, capable, responsible families that are committed to the care and welfare of this family member for it's entire life. We offer a lifetime of support and information to our puppy owners and hope that develops into life long friendships!
